Team building with purpose

A powerful, memorable team building experience

Corporate team building, done differently

If you’re looking for more than fun and socialising from your team building – and want to build stronger relationships and personal skills too – our challenges that combine experiential learning with purpose driven activities are impactful and remembered not just for days, but years to come.

We create team experiences that encourage friendly competition, and that are focused on solving real-world problems, many of which have a humanitarian slant. Our activities provide flexibility and create opportunities for people to connect across locations (local and international) and functions/departments.

Our challenges boost employee morale and develop practical skills, while also doing something good in the world. Your teams will take on bite-sized challenges that are fun, thought-provoking, and full of purpose.

What makes us different?

Teams connect while making a difference

Challenges can be built around real-life community, philanthropic or humanitarian projects - teams could be supporting communities, families or individuals in Nepal, Afghanistan or Tibet. These activities let teams contribute to something bigger than themselves, while aligning with your organisation’s CSR or social impact goals.

It fits around your schedule

Each challenge requires input of around 60-90 minutes, per person (depending on team size) and can be completed online, hybrid or in-person within your teams. We recommend one challenge a week for six weeks but you can opt for a shorter or longer race - or run a one, two or three day version as part of a team offsite or event.

Real skills, built through experience

Challenges are designed to stretch your team in a supportive way - focusing on skills like collaboration, problem solving, communication, resilience, cultural awareness and accountability.

How it works

Ideally, teams of 4 - 8 people (you can have as many teams as you like)

Teams complete 6 x 90-minute online challenges, run weekly or in a compressed sprint (1-3 full days)

Mid race live facilitated session to share and embed learning

Independent judging, with scoring, feedback and a shared leaderboard

Final wrap-up with optional awards or formal celebration

Extend the learning, embed the change

Combine the race with more structured facilitated or digital learning if you want to meet specific learning outcomes. Choose from themes like creative thinking, accountability, cultural awareness and resilience, designed to meet learning objectives while keeping teams energised and engaged.

This approach connects the dots between learning, reflection and application – so the learning doesn’t end with the challenge.

Frequently asked questions

Why is it called The Leadership Race if it’s for team building?

Whether someone is formally appointed as a leader or informally asked to step up by colleagues, the leadership race is all about exploring and developing our potential. Those who grab opportunities that arise to develop their potential are most likely to find themselves in a leadership position at some point.

Is The Leadership Race just for managers and leaders?

Not at all, but teams will usually benefit from having someone lead/manage the activities. We have found that lots of team members possess leadership skills that, for various reasons, often go unnoticed. The Leadership Race is a great opportunity for these hidden skills and characteristics to be revealed.

Does the competitive edge to the race negatively impact when we are seeking to build relationships?

There is a world of difference between hard-nosed competition and the friendly competition we are running here. The sessions that we facilitate all encourage positive engagement and accountable, emotionally mature behaviours to ensure that all delegates enjoy the competition. The competitive edge we find ensures that the standard between teams continually rises, with teams continually learning from each other.

Is this suitable for remote or hybrid teams?

Yes, absolutely. The challenge/s can be set online, so even if the people in your teams are all over the world, they’ll be able to work together.
